BTS and BLACKPINK headline K-pop representation in the MTV VMAs Best Group category, joined by rookie CORTIS and global girl group KATSEYE; BTS also picked up nominations for Song of the Year and Best K-pop while BLACKPINK members Jennie and Lisa earned individual nods

MTV added BTS, Cortis and Katseye to the Best Group nominees for the 2026 Video Music Awards, lifting BTS and Cortis to three nominations apiece and bringing Katseye’s total to four; Katseye is also a contender for Song of the Summer with “Hootie Frutti.” Fan voting for the VMAs’ social categories opens in late September ahead of the live show on Sept. 27

BTS and rookie Cortis each picked up a third nomination at the 2026 MTV VMAs, with both named among eight contenders for Best Group alongside BLACKPINK and Katseye. BTS’s additional nods are for Song of the Year and Best K-pop for “Swim” from its album Arirang, Cortis was already up for Best New Artist and Best K-pop, and the VMAs are set for Sept. 27 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles

Cortis' second EP GreenGreen has sold over 4.1 million copies in South Korea, making the BigHit Music boy group the second act this year to exceed 4 million after BTS' Arirang, the agency said; the EP also debuted at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and has spent 18 consecutive weeks on the chart. BigHit cited Circle and Hanteo data showing GreenGreen moved more than 2.3 million copies in its debut week and credited sustained interest in the lead single "RedRed" and B‑side "YoungCreatorCrew," while the group's debut EP Color Outside the Lines has added about 1 million sales this year to reach roughly 2.3 million
