Actor Cho Jin-woong’s acknowledgment of portions of his alleged juvenile-offense history is sending shockwaves through the Korean entertainment industry, raising urgent questions about his upcoming projects — including the highly anticipated second season of the hit drama “Signal.” Cho’s agency, Saram Entertainment, said Dec. 5 that after checking with the actor directly, it confirmed “there was wrongdoing during his minor years,” indirectly acknowledging the circulating allegations. The agency added that the events occurred more than 30 years ago, making it “difficult to fully verify the circumstances,” and noted that all related legal procedures have long been closed. However, the company drew a firm line, saying, “We clearly state that he is not connected to any acts related to sexual assault,” strongly denying the most serious allegation.
