ᯓ★‎‎‎‎ idols and western culture a lot of us believe in the misconception that idols should only listen to kpop, which "makes sense", because that's their job. but just like somebody's indian and they shouldn't be obliged to listen to only bollywood music, idols are no different. this might be a differnt lookout for some, but when evan's ride or die came out, some engenes ik who had hee as their #1 stan were all of a sudden dissing him? as in, calling him ungrateful for his kpop career, all of that. no kpop idol's ungrateful, but we need to acknowledge that they DO want to expand on with themes true to them. true, kpop has been losing its 'k' value, but why should that mean the idols can't do so much as experiment? i'm feeling this for aespa in particular. karina, winter, not as much, they're fan favorites in korea because they "abide" by standards. giselle, ningning, not so close. just because they're "western". tbh, the only exemption is katseye, as it's not a k group firstly.
