Sink your teeth into ENHYPEN's upcoming album 'The Sin: Vanish'

Fresh off their first major award, ENHYPEN, K-pop's most prolific vampire-slash-idols are set to pull us in to their mythical world once again. The boy group, who recently won Visa Fan's Choice of the Year in this year's MAMA Awards in Hong Kong, is set to drop their seventh mini-album, "The Sin: Vanish" on Jan. 16. "The Sin: Vanish" will kick off a new chapter in ENHYPEN's dark fantasy arc, drawing from the concept of sin, set in a world full of vampires. Since their debut in 2020, ENHYPEN has cultivated a distinct identity as K-pop's folkloric storytellers, building a rich universe centered on the undead. According to a press release from ENHYPEN's agency Belift Lab, "The Sin: Vanish" will explore "an absolute taboo condemned by the vampire society." Ahead of the release, the boy group opened a fictional digital news site named "Vampire Now" to tease their upcoming album, publishing different articles about the vampire lifestyle to fully immerse fans and listeners into the world of night walkers. The fictional news site, which also launched an Instagram news account, which attracted mor

Shinee’s Key breaks silence over illegal medical treatment controversy, steps down from TV shows

Key of Shinee admitted Wednesday to receiving at-home medical treatment from a woman accused of illegally providing medical services, and said he would step down from all ongoing programs. In a statement released Tuesday, Key’s agency SM Entertainment said the singer was introduced to the woman, dubbed the “injection aunt,” through an acquaintance. He first met her at a clinic in Gangnam, where he believed she was a licensed doctor. “Key continued to receive treatment at the clinic and when clin

How do strong backstories contribute to success in K-pop?

In K-pop, chart success is rarely driven by catchy melodies or polished choreography alone. More often, longevity and sustained attention are shaped by whether an artist — or their music — carries a compelling, relatable narrative. Songs that are tied to a clear emotional arc or back story tend to resonate more deeply with listeners, encouraging repeated engagement and prolonged relevance beyond the initial release. A recent example can be seen in the renewed success of Hwasa’s single “Good Good

SHINee’s Key breaks silence over illegal medical treatment controversy

SHINee’s Key has spoken out after becoming embroiled in controversy over alleged illegal medical procedures linked to a woman known as the ‘injection aunt,’ who is accused of practicing medicine without a license. He said he received treatment believing she was a licensed doctor and expressed deep regret over his ignorance. SM Entertainment, Key’s agency, released an official statement on Wednesday addressing the allegations involving the woman, identified only as Lee. The agency apologized for the delay in responding. “Due to the need to communicate with various parties related to overseas tour schedules and activities, it was difficult to issue a prompt statement, and we sincerely apologize for that.” According to SM, Key was first introduced to Lee through an acquaintance and met her at a hospital in Seoul’s Gangnam District, believing her to be a doctor. “Key continued to receive treatment at the hospital, and in recent situations where visiting the hospital was difficult, he received treatment at home on several occasions,” the agency said, acknowledging that Key

SM Entertainment accelerates US push with early debut plans for rookie acts

SM Entertainment is moving more aggressively into the US market, deploying its rookie groups earlier than ever as part of its evolving global strategy. For years, SM concentrated its core music business in Asia, particularly Korea and Japan, while rivals such as Hybe and JYP Entertainment pivoted more decisively toward the US. That approach began to change in 2023, when SM unveiled its “SM 3.0” strategy, naming the US a “key market” it must secure to become a top global entertainment company. Wi

'I want to come back so badly': BTS hints at upcoming releases after 2-year break

BTS is no longer hiding its impatience — and fans are taking notice. On Dec. 16, all seven members of BTS went live together on the fan community platform Weverse, where they spoke candidly about their growing thirst for a full-group comeback following their military hiatus. “We practice together, and in the evenings we gather and just chat,” Jimin said, offering a glimpse into the group’s current routine. RM voiced what many fans have been feeling. “I want to come back so badly I feel like I’m going crazy,” he said, before adding pointedly, “When is the company announcing it? I’m losing my mind. HYBE, please announce it already.” Jimin agreed that the wait felt unusually long, saying, “Time feels slower than we expected, so it’s frustrating.” Jungkook added a dose of realism, saying, “We’re not even ten percent ready yet,” while Suga reassured fans by saying the comeback would be announced “in the near future.” RM then hinted at ongoing preparations, saying, “Don’t we have another meeting tomorrow?” fueling speculation that an official announceme

BTS’ 2018 single reclaims global charts

More than seven years after its release, the BTS B-side "Anpanman" returned to Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales Chart and claimed the top spot. The track ranked No. 7 on its Digital Songs Sales Chart and in the UK, ranked No. 12 on the Official Singles Download Chart and No. 24 on the Singles Sales Chart earlier this week. The hip-hop tune compares the bandmates to the "weakest superhero" from the popular Japanese animation of the same name. It was part of the septet’s third studio album “Lo

Chaebol heiress idol, Annie, says she never misses a 1+1 ice cream deal

An unexpected confession from a so-called “chaebol idol” is drawing attention — not for luxury habits, but for how ordinary her shopping rules actually are. Annie, a member of the co-ed K-pop group AllDay Project, appeared on KBS Cool FM’s “Park Myung-soo’s Radio Show” on Monday, where she spoke candidly about life as both a rookie idol and a member of one of Korea’s most powerful business families. During the broadcast, host Park Myung-soo brought up the label often attached to her — “rich family’s daughter” — asking whether it ever felt like a burden. Annie responded calmly, saying, “If you call it a charm, then it can be a charm.” When asked whether she was already waiting for her first settlement as an idol, she laughed and said, “I’m really waiting. I haven’t received it yet, so I’m curious when it will happen.” The conversation turned playful when Park asked whether she ever buys convenience store buy-one-get-one-free deals. Annie answered without hesitation, saying, “Of course. Ice cream is always one-plus-one. I recently bought a lot beca

BTS member RM finally gets a driver’s license at 31

BTS leader RM has revealed a surprisingly personal milestone: getting a driver’s license at age 31 — not to buy a car, but to confront what he openly called a long-held trauma. On Tuesday, RM shared a series of photos on social media alongside the caption “Jogogakha,” a Buddhist phrase meaning “look at your own feet,” often interpreted as a reminder to seek truth and realization within oneself rather than externally. The phrase immediately sparked discussion among fans, given its introspective tone and the images that followed. One photo shows RM seated inside a car, head slightly bowed as he takes a quiet selfie. Another image showed that he has officially obtained a standard Class 2 driver’s license in Korea. The timing of the post was no coincidence. Earlier that day, BTS appeared together for a full-group live broadcast on the fan platform Weverse, marking a rare moment of casual interaction among the members. During the livestream, RM surprised fans by casually announcing, “Everyone, I, Kim Nam-joon, got my driver’s license.” J-Hope quickly teased him, saying the

Seungkwan, on the other hand, is reminded of his past love when he spots a manga series someone brought to his work. As suggested by the album title, the pair will portray moments of love

The top of the latest chart was dominated by holiday classics, including "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey. On the Billboard 200, the "KPop Demon Hunters" soundtrack remained at No. 3 for its 25th consecutive week on the main albums chart. The K-pop octet Stray Kids placed two albums on the Billboard 200, with "Do It" at No. 10 and "Karma" at No. 160. "Do It" became the group's eighth No. 1 album upon its release in late November.
